Telecommunication carriers have learned that the traditional model of acquiring customers is far too expensive. Many carriers only offer inside sales teams from distant call centers to keep cost down. Instead of paying sales teams high salaries with benefits, the carriers are migrating to Channel Programs that pay partners (1099) to acquire new customers. The acquisition cost is much lower.
